ELON MUSK’S X: TESLA OWNERS RESPOND 📉
What could make a proud Tesla Model 3 owner give up their ride? Elon Musk's Twitter antics, that's what. According to a spicy new survey of 5,000 Model 3 owners, some owners are giving up Tesla ownership because they're... well, not exactly fans of Musk's recent Twitter escapades. (Twitter? X? Whatever…)
Ever since Elon took over Twitter he's been sharing hot takes on everything from politics to conspiracy theories. And how could we forget the potential cage fight between Musk and Zuck… (We’re betting Zuck takes the dub.)
Though, Elon isn't sweating it. He's quick to point out his skyrocketing Twitter followers as proof of his enduring popularity. That's how we measure self-worth these days, didn't you know?
In fairness to Papa Musk, the concrete evidence linking his tweets to Tesla ups and downs has been weak... until now.
Enter Bloomberg: with a mega survey of 5,000 Model 3 drivers that's juicier than a summer watermelon. The top reason people sold their Model 3s? Disapproval of Elon Musk.

Now before we start imagining a world where Teslas are as rare as unicorns, let’s throw in some context. 87% of Model 3 owners are still eyeballing another Tesla for their next ride. So only a smidge of owners are vamoosing from the Tesla clan, and only one in five are doing it with Musk on their minds.
So, there you have it. Tesla is still in the game. Elon is still tweeting. And we're just here for the drama.

PEOPLE ARE GETTING IT ON IN ROBOTAXIS 🙈
Ever sat in your living room, sipping on tea, pondering life’s great mysteries and thought: "What do people do in robotaxis?" No sweat. We got you.
Waymo and Cruise autonomous taxis are the latest talk of the town in San Francisco. From daily commuters to adventurous souls, everyone's hopping aboard. For some, it's all about multitasking or squeezing in a quick nap. But for others, it's about pushing the boundaries.
Firstly, the innocent stuff: On the upside, robotaxis give a glorious free rein to hobbies and routines. Picture yourself munching cereal, reading books, or even sneaking in a power nap — all in the middle of traffic! Yes, you heard right: sleeping, grooming, and even food prep.

But then, there are the rebels among us. Without the prying eyes of a driver, people are, um, taking advantage of the privacy. To quote one of the Cruise riders: "The Cruise got steamy. Windows-fogged-up kind of steamy.” (Subtle, very subtle.)
As you'd expect, not everyone’s aboard this adventurous train. Waymo plays the good child, emphasizing their decent, rule-abiding riders. And let’s not forget Elon’s reaction when he encountered the... innovative use of Tesla’s autopilot. Yes Elon, it’s not just rockets that can take off.
Now, before you consider making your own steamy memories in these automated chariots, a word of caution: Those cars are more camera-clad than paparazzi stalking a celebrity. While there's no judgy driver, you’re still on camera!

EV VS ICE: THE TRUE COST OF REFUELING 📊
Hey, you! Wondering if filling up that good ol' gasoline car is cheaper than plugging in an electric one? You're not alone! From Bostonian banter to TV talk shows, it's the modern-age version of the chicken or the egg debate.
My buddy, Gasoline Gary, believes his Toyota RAV4 Prime is superior because he claims electricity costs are too high. But is he right? Let’s find out.
Firstly, 70% of EV lovers, according to the folks at Pew Research, are cruising the electric lane hoping to save big on fuel. But there's a lot to consider such as your charging location or your local taxman.
The Wallet-Weight of Filling Up
Sure, your average EV might dent your wallet upfront compared to its gasoline sibling. But here's the kicker: the long-term perks, cheaper 'juicing up', and fewer visits to the mechanic can balance out that hefty first date.
However, the exact cost of recharging an EV is as predictable as your aunt's Thanksgiving discussions. For example, the gasoline Ford F-150 and its electric twin have different tales to tell.

Life in the Fast (and Slow) Charging Lane
Highway chargers come in two flavors: the tortoise-paced Level 2 and the hare-zooming Level 3. While Level 2 might make you wait, it's kinder to your wallet. However, pricier Level 3 chargers still win out against gasoline refueling.
But these calculations get must trickier when factoring in location. Not all roads are paved with EV infrastructure. Regions with fewer EV fans, say Detroit to Miami, have challenges. Dirty electricity and "Where's Waldo?" charging stations mean the cost benefits become a game of hide and seek.
Driving Home the Point
Although we may not all agree on all the costs associated with EVs, it’s clear that EVs are good for the planet and good for our wallets. Plus it appears to continue getting better, as EV prices aim to slide under gasoline cars.
The climate clock's ticking, and every gasoline gallon pumps out about 20 pounds of CO2. EVs aren’t the only environmental answer, but they're a heck of a start.

LEGACY AUTO IS STALLING 🪦

Source: Ford
Five years ago, car industry leaders like Toyota, VW, and Ford joined the electric vehicle trend with a relaxed and confident attitude. They probably daydreamed of Elon Musk fading into obscurity like yesterday's fashion trend. But instead, a series of “Tesla challengers” zoomed in with much fanfare, only to exit like flat tires.
2022 had these auto giants revving their engines again, boasting of skyrocketing EV sales. Whispers started: "Is Tesla running out of charge?" Ah, but they missed a beat! While they were tallying their electric wins, Tesla was setting up for automative dominance (Maybe global dominance too? Who knows ‘bout Elon). Jump to 2023, and it seems the old guard’s GPS led them to a dead end.
Now, Ford's realizing that selling EVs is tougher than a cactus in a snowstorm, with cars piling up like it's Black Friday. Over at Volkswagen, CEO Thomas Schaefer's latest hit single seems to be "the roof is on fire." Not exactly the tunes they had on their playlist. Yet, in a plot twist, everyone's still boarding the EV express, driven by sheer market trend.
Got the Ford Mustang Mach-E on your radar? She's now taking a nosedive, with sales plummeting 21%, despite rolling out the red carpet with discounts. Even the Ford F-150 Lightning, the talk of the town, seems to have lost some of its thunder.
Although these car companies have improved in some areas, their engines are starting to fail and their tires are losing grip. The takeaway? It’s clear that in this race, Tesla is still leading.
